2nd Annual Ice on the Avenue

2nd Annual Ice On The Avenue in Old Colorado City - 2 Miles West of Downtown Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs’ Westside historic Old Colorado City (OCC) will be holding its 2nd Annual Ice On The Avenue on January 16-17, 2010.  This year’s Ice on The Avenue will include ice sculptures located between 24th and 28th street along West Colorado Ave and side streets.

On both Saturday and Sunday there will be many activities available for all ages.  Plans include carving a large ice castle with ice slide(s) for children to play on during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend.   Beginning around 10AM each day, there will be ice sculptures being carved at various locations within the event boundaries. Come & watch an original piece of ice-art being created!

Plans are also to build larger than life “Ice Thrones” to have a seat on and be a king or queen for the day!    Bring your camera and have your picture taken as you sit on our ice throne, or bowl down a bowling lane made of ice.  There will be a Ice Bowling Alley with real pins -- see if you can strike it hot when the lane is cold.

For a small fee, kids  can take home a Personalized Block Of Ice with their name carved in it or have an icy cold beverage taken from our special Kids Ice Luge.  To warm you up afterwards there will be hot food and hot drink available from more than a dozen Old Colorado City restaurants and street vendors.

Weather Permitting - Ice sculptures will be on will be on display through Sunday.
